The Morning Sip: Home Is Where You Find Your Child
 
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, you child is present.  Perhaps you can see or hear your child, perhaps you cannot.  Maybe you are together and maybe you are a thousand miles apart.  Regardless, the dimensions of time and space that create the appearance of separation cannot disturb your connection with your child.
 
      I turn my thoughts to my child
     For the flicker of an instant
     And I am home
 
This verse can help to ground you in the present moment and open your awareness of your child.  In doing so, it energizes your sense of well being and feelings of joyfulness.
 
Allow subtle cues to remind you to recite this verse today -- when stopped at a traffic light, standing in line, waiting for a meeting or appointment to begin, or when experiencing a body ache.
 
When you recite it, do so slowly while breathing deeply.  Be aware that you are reciting it.  Be attentive to the feelings that arise and pass.

The Mindful Parent is an organization devoted to sharing with parents and other child caregivers ways in which to enhance the many joys of parenting.  By mindfully attending to our children, both when we are physically present with them and when we are physically separated from them, we can enhance our sense of connection to them and, in turn, our connection to the cosmos.  This makes us a better parent, a happier person, and a more vital human being.
 
To facilitate a more mindful approach to parenting, The Mindful Parent publishes on its website, and in its bi-weekly newsletter, mindful parenting verses and commentaries.  The Mindful Parent website also serves as a community forum that encourages and supports a mindful parenting dialogue and the sharing of mindful parenting experiences.
