The Mindful Parent 
The Mindful Parent is an organization devoted to sharing with parents and other child caregivers ways in which to enhance the many joys of parenting.  By mindfully attending to our children, both when we are physically present with them and when we are physically separated from them, we can enhance our sense of connection to them and, in turn, our connection to the cosmos.  This makes us a better parent, a happier person, and a more vital human being.
 
To facilitate a more mindful approach to parenting, The Mindful Parent publishes on its website, and in its bi-weekly newsletter, mindful parenting verses and commentaries.  The Mindful Parent website also serves as a community forum that encourages and supports a mindful parenting dialogue and the sharing of mindful parenting experiences.

The Daily Sip: A Verse For Bathing
 
The depth of connectedness between ourselves and our child runs deeper than any other we will ever know.  When taking a shower or bath, we escape from all of the stimuli that we normally encounter during the day. We also find ourselves alone in a very natural state. This moment presents a good opportunity to draw upon the core of the special connection we share with our child who possesses, or has learned from, our flesh and blood, our spirit, and our mind.
 
           As I wash this body
          My thoughts
          Are my child's thoughts
 
Memorize this simple verse and recite it the next time you take a shower or bath.  When you do, be especially attentive to your body and the flow and temperature of the water.  Breathe deeply and open awareness to your child -- to yourself.
