Sip: Connecting with Your Child And Someone Special
There
are people we are blessed to have in our lives. This is especially
so when we are children, vulnerable and impressionable.
Do your
thoughts turn effortlessly to that someone special? Perhaps they
are a parent, a grandparent, an aunt or uncle, a nanny, neighbor,
or a teacher. Breathe deeply and open your awareness to this
person from your childhood. Feel the radiance of warmth
and love they planted in your heart all those years ago.
Perhaps
this person is alive, perhaps they have passed on. Today, when
you are with your child, bring this person so deeply into your
awareness that you see the world through their eyes and touch the
world through their hands. Your voice sounds like their voice.
No effort is needed.
This is a beautiful exercise because your
connection to this person has a very mindful quality. When you
open to this person while connecting with your child, a place
of stillness and mindfulness is awakened.
You need only
do this for a few moments to feel the joy it arouses. You
are sharing a beautiful moment with both your child and this special
person.
Allow yourself to follow the impulses that may surface.
You may come to sense that this is not just an exercise after all.
