The Mindful Parent
The Mindful Parent is an organization devoted to sharing with parents and other child caregivers ways in which to enhance the many joys of parenting.  By mindfully attending to our children, both when we are physically present with them and when we are physically separated from them, we can enhance our sense of connection to them and, in turn, our connection to the cosmos.  This makes us a better parent, a happier person, and a more vital human being.

To facilitate a more mindful approach to parenting, The Mindful Parent publishes on its website, and in its bi-weekly newsletter, mindful parenting verses and commentaries.  The Mindful Parent website also serves as a community forum that encourages and supports a mindful parenting dialogue and the sharing of mindful parenting experiences.

In the spirit of developing a mindful parenting community, we encourage you to submit a mindful parenting experience through verse, commentary, and imagery to share with others.  We believe that through our collective experience, we can help each other develop a deeper and more meaningful mindful parenting practice. Click here to learn more about making a submssion.  We thank everyone who has contributed or is considering making this very compassionate contribution.

The Daily Sip:  Your Timepiece
And Your Child: Part II

If you changed the time on your timepiece yesterday, you may want to adjust it to the correct time.

Today's sip is a simple variant on yesterday's.  If you wear a watch, place it on the other hand.  If you look to your cell phone for the time, try to remember to reach for it with the other hand.  If there's a clock on your desk, move it to the other side.

Now, when you look to the time, just as with yesterday's sipallow your timepiece to help awaken you to the present moment.  When you realize what has changed, reflect on the fleeting passage of time.  Slow your breathing, taking full deep breaths.  Relax your shoulders and soften your belly.  As you do, open awareness to the presence of your child -- wherever he or she may be.  Each time you look to your timepiece, and are awakened to the passage of time, turn your thoughts for a few seconds to your beautiful child.

Reflect on the time that has passed since your child was born.  Consider the time remaining in your child's life on this Earth.  Then return to the presence of your child in this moment.  Unlike the past and the future, this moment is tangible -- it is all that is real.

As you breathe deeply and bring awareness to the presence of your child in your life, cherish the present moment.
